Bipolar Membrane Electrodialysis Technology

Image
What Is Bipolar Membrane Electrodialysis? Bipolar membrane electrodialysis (BMED) is a system that combines electrodialysis (ED) and  bipolar membrane  (BPM), developed for its ability to convert anions and cations into acids and bases, respectively. BMED is composed of BPM,  cation exchange membrane  (CEM) and  anion exchange membrane  (AEM) in a certain arrangement, involving three basic membrane structures: Three-chamber BMED It contains CEM, AEM and BPM in each membrane repeating unit to achieve acid and alkali separation and recovery from salts. Two- chamber base-BMED It contains CEM and BPM in each membrane repeating unit for processing weak acid salts (organic acid salts) to obtain relatively pure bases. Two-chamber acid-BMED It contains AEM and BPM in each membrane repeating unit for converting weak base salts into relatively pure acids. How Bipolar Membrane Electrodialysis Works Under the action of a DC electric field, the bipolar membrane c...

Liquid Crystal (LC) Building Blocks

Liquid crystal (LC) building blocks are building blocks that use liquid crystals as raw materials to achieve specific functions and actually exist in the system. Liquid crystal is an intermediate substance between the crystalline state and the liquid state. It combines some characteristics of liquid and crystal, and shows some unique properties. Most liquid crystals are organic compounds and consist of long rod-shaped molecules. In a natural state, the long axes of these rod-shaped molecules are roughly parallel. Applications: The liquid crystal building module has the advantages of unique properties, abundant types, and relatively simple preparation method. It has a wide range of applications in the fields of optoelectronic materials, biology, medicine and environmental monitoring. Optoelectronic materials:  Liquid crystal building blocks are widely used in the field of optoelectronic materials. At present, liquid crystals are used as display materials in daily necessities...

Innovations in Ionic Liquids Synthesis

What is Ionic Liquids Synthesis? Ionic liquids are organic salts that exist in a liquid state at or below 100 degrees Celsius, often composed of large organic cations and organic or inorganic anions. They are known for their unique properties, including low vapor pressure, high thermal stability, and tunable solvation properties.  Ionic liquids synthesis  involves the preparation of these compounds through various methods such as the combination of appropriate cations and anions or the modification of existing ionic liquids to introduce specific functionalities. One common method for synthesizing ionic liquids is the neutralization reaction between a suitable organic base and an acid to form the desired salt. This can be followed by purification steps to remove any impurities and ensure the quality of the final product. Another approach involves the introduction of specific functional groups through chemical modification of existing ionic liquids, allowing for the custo...

Rare Earth Perchlorate

  Rare earth perchlorates can be prepared by the reaction of rare earth oxides and perchloric acid, usually containing crystal water, and its molecular formula is RE(ClO 4 ) 3 ·nH 2 O, n=2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. The amount of bound water is related to the type of element. When n=9, the relevant rare earth perchlorate is Sm(ClO 4 ) 3 •9H 2 O and Sm(ClO 4 ) 3 •9H 2 O; when n=8, the rare earth perchlorate The salt is La(ClO 4 ) 3 •8H 2 O, Ce(ClO 4 ) 3 •8H 2 O, Pr(ClO 4 ) 3 •8H 2 O, Nd(ClO 4 ) 3 •8H 2 O, Y(ClO 4 ) 3 •8H 2 O; when n=6, the rare earth The chlorates are Tb(ClO 4 ) 3 •6H 2 O and Er(ClO 4 ) 3 •6H 2 O. Rare earth perchlorates are widely used in the field of biological research because the chlorate ions contained therein can form functional complexes with various ligands. Structure and properties The structure of rare earth perchlorate is RE(ClO4)3·nH2O, n=2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. The coordination polyhedron of rare earth ions is octahedron, among which RE(ClO4)3·6H2O is a ...

Carbon quantum dots   (CQDs) are a newly discovered class of quantum materials that have generated significant interest in both academia and industry. With a diameter below 10 nm, they are a type of carbon nanoparticle that exhibits remarkable physical and chemical properties. They range from simple organic molecules to complex functionalized materials and can be synthesized in various ways, making them an attractive candidate for a wide range of applications. Introduction of Carbon Quantum Dots Carbon quantum dots are zero-dimensional nanoparticles made of sp2-hybridized carbon atoms. They have a unique electronic structure that provides them with unique optical and electronic properties. Carbon quantum dots can be obtained from various carbon sources, such as graphite, graphene, carbon nanotubes, and organic materials such as vegetable oil, citric acid, pyrene, and others. Due to their size and unique structure, these materials have a large surface-area-to-volume ratio, making th...

Application of Vulcanization Accelerators in Polymers

Why should vulcanization accelerators be used? After more than 100 years of development, the world rubber industry has become an important traditional industry in many developed countries. However, rubber products cannot withstand extreme high and low temperatures, which causes them to become fragile and susceptible to degradation during seasonal changes. American inventors discovered that removing sulfur from rubber and then heating it would allow the rubber to retain its elasticity and harden. This process is known as vulcanization. Vulcanization accelerators act as special compounds that minimize the degradation of rubber and speed up the vulcanization process, thereby improving the mechanical properties of rubber (e.g., strength, elasticity, hardness, abrasion resistance). It can be said that the use of vulcanization accelerator has opened a new door for the rapid development of rubber products. Applications The main market sectors for vulcanization accelerators are the auto...
