Electrofunctional polymers are a type of functional materials that have electrical properties and is favored by many people, when compared to metals, for it has many advantages. As electrofunctional polymers are becoming increasingly popular, various sub-categories have emerged accordingly, covering conductive polymers, polymer electrolytes, and polymer electrodes. “With continuous development, the existing electrofunctional polymers can no longer meet all needs from diverse applications. There are growing demands for new configurations, and thankfully, n...

Basic Facts about Graphene

Graphene originally exists in nature, but it is difficult to peel off a single-layer structure. 1mm thick graphite contains about 3 million layers of graphene. People discovered graphite a long time ago, but it wasn't until 2004 that graphene was discovered. This is because theoretical studies starting from 70 years ago showed that a perfect two-dimensional crystal structure cannot exist stably in a non-absolute zero temperature environment. In 2004, two British scientists obtained graphene through a very simple experimental method. They peeled off the graphite flakes from the highly oriented pyrolytic graphite, then glued the two sides of the flakes to a special tape, and peeled off the tape to split the graphite flakes in two. With continuous operations like this, the flakes are getting thinner and thinner, and finally a flake composed of only one layer of carbon atoms is obtained - this is graphene. Although theoretically impossible, it was successfully prepared in the experim...

A Few Things You Should Know about Carbon fibers

Carbon fiber is a new type of fiber material with high strength and with a carbon content of more than 95%. It is a microcrystalline graphite material obtained by piling up organic fibers such as flake graphite microcrystals along the fiber axial direction, and then undergoing carbonization and graphitization treatments. Carbon fiber is a new material with excellent mechanical properties. Its specific gravity is less than 1/4 of that of steel. The tensile strength of carbon fiber resin composites is generally above 3500Mpa, which is 7-9 times that of steel. The tensile modulus of elasticity is 23000 to 43000Mpa, also higher than steel. Performance of carbon fiber composite materials Different from other FRP composite materials that use traditional fibers, such as glass fibers or aramid fibers, carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) composite materials have excellent properties, which include: Light weight : Traditional glass fiber reinforced composite materials use continuous gl...

Alfa Chemistry Launches Environmental Contaminants Standards for A Safer World

Alfa Chemistry has never ceased its step in developing new standards to meet the latest needs arising from studies of environmental, food, water and contaminants. Via years of endeavors, the company has succeeded in the launch of a wide range of environmental goods standards for scientists and researchers across the globe, encompassing chlorinated phenol and resin acid standards, drinking water disinfection byproducts standards, and environmental contaminants standards . Phthalate esters (PAEs) are widely used in the manufacturing of plastics, and their amount in WIP ranges from 0 to 50%. PAEs are one of the most frequently detected persistent organic pollutants in the environment and will lead to serious environmental PAE contamination. Listed as priority substances in the European Union, PAEs are consequently often subject to ecological risk assessments. The Phthalate monoesters, breakdown products of phthalate diesters, are also ubiquitous environmental contaminants. “A large nu...

Alfa Chemistry Materials Newly Adds Aligned Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes

The past decade has witnessed the discoveries and discrete applications of carbon nanotubes in multiple scientific fields. Alfa Chemistry Materials has long been providing a wide range of carbon nanotubes such as amino modified MWCNTs, carbon nanotubes epoxy compound and carbon nanotubes slurry for the science community. To further enrich its product offerings, on November 17, 2021, the company releases aligned multi-walled carbon nanotubes , a new and innovative form of carbon nanotubes. Carbon nanotubes have already become intriguing to researchers for the development of new materials due to their unique electrical, thermal and mechanical properties. “An array of aligned carbon nanotubes (CNTs) was incorporated across a polymer film to form a well-ordered nanoporous membrane structure,” says a senior scientist from Alfa Chemistry Materials. “Compared with individual CNTs, aligned multi-walled carbon nanotubes have unique properties and thus found broader and wider applications in...

Alfa Chemistry Announces to Provide Physical Properties Standards

The importance of Analytical Standards are evident in many research and development fields such as product and specification testing, quality control and technical service work. Taking into consideration the growing demand for analytical standards, the management of Alfa Chemistry decides to launch physical properties standards , a new product line of analytical standards, for clients across the globe. Analytical standards are used to confirm the presence of specific components in mixtures, to increase the precision of quantitative analysis, to perform a test or a calibration of an analyzer or for other purposes. The physical property standards are specially designed for testing physical properties, including but not limited to: density, melting point, conductivity, color, viscosity, particle size, refractive index, ion activity as well as turbidimetry. “Our wide selection of physical property standards can be applied in varieties of industries, such as chemistry, food and material...
